The Cookie Table is a wedding tradition deeply rooted in the cultural fabric of Pittsburgh and surrounding areas, inherited from the Italian and Eastern European communities. At weddings, instead of (or in addition to!) a cake, guests are treated to an elaborate spread of homemade cookies, often presented on a beautifully decorated table. This cookie table is usually overflowing with a wide variety of flavors, textures, and family recipes.
The preparation of the cookies is a labor of love, often involving days or weeks of baking by family members and friends. The cookies can range from traditional favorites like chocolate chip, thumbprints, and buckeyes to more unique or regional specialties such as ladylocks (cream horns), pizzelles (Italian waffle cookies), and nut rolls.
To contribute to the Pittsburgh Cookie Table at our wedding, we're inviting family and friends to sign up to bake and bring their favorite cookies. We've created a Google Form to make the process simple and organized. By filling out the form, you'll be able to let us know which type of cookies you'd like to bake and how many dozen you plan to bring. Your participation will help us create a beautiful and delicious cookie table that reflects the love and community that surrounds us. Thank you for being part of this special tradition!
